The SGA Judiciary Committe has deliberated and voted on violations that were brought to its attention during the election process. As a result, the Boland/Finnegan and Ravunniarath/Davis tickets have been disqualified and will be removed from the ballot tomorrow morning. As with every Judiciary ruling, a decision summary will be posted on the Student Government website as soon as possible.
Please remember to cast your vote tomorrow, Friday, by 5pm. Good luck to all candidates,

Alright, I haven't heard all the specifics yet, but from what people have told me the reason that Patrick and Cary are being disqualified is because Cary posted a campaign digest on wednesday night that didn't get sent out to the campus until midnight-after the campaign period had officially ended. If this is honestly the reason I think that it is completely unfair bullshit for two reasons.
1. The Mary Low dorm President was called before the Judiciary board for doing the EXACT SAME THING at the beginning of election period and WAS NOT penalized for it.
2. If we're going to get into the subject of inappropriately using Colby email lists, Dan Heinrich's use of the iplay email list to campaign should also be called into question. His statement of "iplay supports Pitt/Heinrich" is absurd since, unlike the Echo, Dan singlehandedly made this decision and the endorsement doesn't represent iplay participants as a whole. It's also just conceited to assume that everyone involved in iplay sports would vote for Dan just because he organizes their field time. To give an example of how ridiculous this is, it would be like if I were to say "The Environmental Studies Department endorses Katie Unsworth for President" just because I work for them on campus.
This decision has left me with serious doubts of the Judiciary Committees level of competency and the fairness of this election.
Sorry guys, the internet hates me so I couldn't put my name on that post. I think I've figured this thing out now though...
What about students who already voted for one of the disqualified tickets? Apparently we can no longer vote, according to the link I tried to use earlier tonight. Even if we could recast our ballots, what choice do we have in the Presidential runoff? The lack of information is astounding in light of the timing (in the middle of the election process).
We keep talking about the Political system in different nations being F'ed up but aren't we creating the same notion here in this community too?
Any administration is formed to build a community rather than disintegrating it. Why form rules that sound absurd to the community? Eventually rules are formed for the upliftment of a community (not some super officials) and so the community should decide whether a rule should exist or not?
I and I am sure many others who did vote would like to know why these candidates are being disqualified and if the violation is not justified by the community then maybe the decision of SGA should be reevaluated.
That's what I feel about the situation.
Thanks for reading.

My question goes out the members of the judiciary committee. What were you thinking when you made this decision that has clearly angered the majority of the student body? Now that the students are angry, SGA is under threat to be dissolved, the whole election process appears compromised, there are no candidates left...ARE YOU REFLECTING?
Yours, is a position of great honor, responsibility and trust. How have you served this position well by this decision? If it is indeed true that you did not disqualify the Marylow candidate, Why were you not being consistent?
This is not a personal attack to you guys, but I just hope you can sit back and think about this the next time you are in such a position.
